About Tomb Hex

Tomb Hex, Instant, designed by Izzy first released in Feb, 2010 in the set Worldwake.

A deck that focuses on landfall triggers and controlling the board would benefit from including Tomb Hex. This card can be particularly effective in a black-based control deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's board state while leveraging landfall abilities for additional value. While Tomb Hex is a solid choice for such a strategy, there are potentially better options like Fatal Push or Dismember that offer more versatile removal options. However, Tomb Hex could still see play in specific metagames or strategies that heavily rely on -1/-1 effects.

Rules

03/01/10

The effect of this spell’s landfall ability replaces its normal effect. If you had a land enter the battlefield under your control this turn, only the landfall-based effect happens.

03/01/10

The landfall ability checks for an action that has happened in the past. It doesn’t matter if a land that entered the battlefield under your control previously in the turn is still on the battlefield, is still under your control, or is still a land.

03/01/10

Whether you had a land enter the battlefield under your control this turn is checked as this spell resolves, not as you cast it.
