A control deck that focuses on card advantage and incremental damage would benefit from using Staff of Nin. While the card draw and direct damage ability are useful, there are better options available such as The Immortal Sun which provides card draw, mana ramp, and other powerful effects for the same mana cost. However, Staff of Nin can still see play in certain decks that can make use of its abilities effectively.
