About Primal Surge

Primal Surge, Sorcery, designed by David Rapoza first released in May, 2012 in the set Avacyn Restored.

This card would benefit a deck that focuses on ramping up mana quickly and running a high number of permanent cards, such as a green ramp or big creature deck. While Primal Surge can be a fun and powerful card in the right deck, it is often considered too slow and risky for competitive play due to its high mana cost and the potential for whiffing if the top card of the library is not a permanent. In many cases, a card like Genesis Wave may be a better option for similar effects in a more consistent and efficient manner.

Rules

05/01/12

A permanent card is an artifact, creature, enchantment, land, or planeswalker card.

05/01/12

If you exile a permanent card that you can’t put onto the battlefield (such as an Aura with nothing legal to enchant) or one you don’t want to put onto the battlefield, Primal Surge finishes resolving.
