Maelstrom Djinn, Creature — djinn, designed by Hideaki Takamura first released in May, 2007 in the set Future Sight.
Maelstrom Djinn could be beneficial in a control deck that focuses on stalling the game and manipulating time counters. However, there are potentially better options available depending on the specific strategy of the deck, such as cards with more immediate impact or stronger synergies. Whether Maelstrom Djinn should see play would depend on the overall game plan and synergy within the deck, as well as the current metagame and competitive environment.

If Maelstrom Djinn turns face up and then is somehow turned face down, it will still have vanishing and time counters. The vanishing ability will continue to work as normal. If it’s turned face up again, it will get more time counters on it, but it will also get another copy of vanishing. Both abilities would trigger during its controller’s upkeep.
