Guild Thief would be a great addition to a tempo or aggro deck in Magic: the Gathering, as its ability to grow in power with +1/+1 counters and its ability to become unblockable can put pressure on opponents quickly. However, there are better cards like Invisible Stalker or Delver of Secrets that offer similar effects with more consistency, making Guild Thief less likely to see play in competitive decks unless there is a specific synergy or theme that it fits into.
