The Giant Spider card would be beneficial in a green deck with a focus on defense and controlling the board, especially against flying creatures. While it can be a solid blocker, there are more efficient options like Thornweald Archer or Ambush Viper that offer additional abilities or better stats for the same cost. However, if the deck needs additional reach blockers, Giant Spider could still see play in certain situations.

This card now uses the Reach keyword ability to enable the blocking of flying creatures. This works because a creature with flying can only be blocked by creatures with flying or reach.
