Crypt Champion, Creature — zombie, designed by Pete Venters first released in May, 2006 in the set Dissension and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
This Crypt Champion card would be beneficial in a deck that focuses on aggressive strategies and graveyard recursion, particularly in a black-red deck that can easily pay the required mana cost. While it offers the potential for a strong board presence with its double strike ability and graveyard recursion effect, its drawback of requiring a red mana to avoid being sacrificed may limit its effectiveness in certain decks. Other cards like Bloodghast or Gravecrawler may offer more consistent value in similar strategies, but Crypt Champion could still see play in the right deck that can effectively support its requirements and capitalize on its strengths.

The first triggered ability isn’t targeted, so the creature cards aren’t chosen until the ability resolves. Each player chooses which creature card from their own graveyard to return. If a player doesn’t have an applicable creature card, that player does nothing. If a player does have any applicable cards, that player must return one to the battlefield.
