About Clone Shell

Clone Shell, Artifact creature — shapeshifter, designed by Volkan Baǵa first released in Oct, 2010 in the set Scars of Mirrodin and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Clone Shell can be a valuable addition to a deck that focuses on graveyard recursion or reanimation strategies, as it provides a way to cheat a creature onto the battlefield when it dies. However, there are more efficient cards like Mulldrifter or Reveillark that offer better value and impact for their mana cost, making Clone Shell less likely to see play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.

Rules

08/07/20

As Clone Shell’s first ability resolves, you must exile one of the cards you look at, even if none of them is a creature card.

08/07/20

If you gain control of another player’s Clone Shell, you can’t look at the face-down exiled card. However, if Clone Shell dies, you turn that card face up and, if it’s a creature card, you put it onto the battlefield under your control.
