About Basandra, Battle Seraph

Basandra, Battle Seraph, Legendary creature — angel, designed by Terese Nielsen first released in May, 2020 in the set Commander 2011 Launch Party and was printed exactly in 5 different ways.

Basandra, Battle Seraph would be a great addition to a red-white aggressive deck that aims to win through combat damage quickly. This card can disrupt opponents' plans by preventing them from casting spells during combat, giving you a strategic advantage. While there may be other cards that offer similar effects, Basandra's ability to force a creature to attack can be particularly useful in certain situations. Whether or not it should see play would depend on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck, but it definitely has potential in the right build.

Rules

09/22/11

If, during a player’s declare attackers step, a creature is tapped, is affected by a spell or ability that says it can’t attack, or hasn’t been under that player’s control continuously since the turn began (and doesn’t have haste), then it doesn’t attack. If there’s a cost associated with having a creature attack, the player isn’t forced to pay that cost, so it doesn’t have to attack in that case either.

09/22/11

While Basandra, Battle Seraph is on the battlefield, players can’t cast any spells during the combat phase, including permanent spells with flash.
