This Rathi Assassin card would be beneficial in a deck focused on controlling the board by eliminating tapped nonblack creatures and efficiently bringing out low-cost Mercenary permanents. However, in terms of better alternatives, the card Faceless Butcher offers a similar effect with more flexibility, as it can target any creature and exile it temporarily. Whether Rathi Assassin should see play would depend on the specific strategy and synergy within the deck, but it could be a valuable inclusion for its targeted removal and Mercenary synergy.
