About Ancestral Vengeance

Ancestral Vengeance, Enchantment — aura, designed by Yohann Schepacz first released in Jan, 2015 in the set Fate Reforged and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Ancestral Vengeance could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on sacrificing creatures or utilizing -1/-1 counters for strategic advantage, such as a Golgari or Rakdos sacrifice deck in Magic: The Gathering. While it provides a temporary boost to a target creature upon entering the battlefield, its continuous effect of giving -1/-1 can be useful for controlling opponent's creatures or triggering abilities that benefit from creatures dying. However, there are more efficient cards like Dead Weight or Fatal Push that offer similar effects for lower mana costs and greater versatility, making them better options for competitive play.

Rules

11/24/14

If the creature targeted by Ancestral Vengeance’s enchant creature ability is an illegal target as Ancestral Vengeance tries to resolve, Ancestral Vengeance won’t resolve. It won’t enter the battlefield, and its enters-the-battlefield ability won’t trigger.
