The crime miniseries The Savant, starring Jessica Chastain, has been delayed again by Apple TV and is now expected to premiere in spring 2027. The series was originally scheduled to debut in September 2025.Chastain plays Jodi Goodwin, an apparently ordinary wife and mother who leads a secret double life. Inspired by a real person profiled by Cosmopolitan in 2019, the character infiltrates online forums and chat groups frequented by members of hate groups. Her goal is to identify potential suspects planning attacks in the United States and stop them from carrying out their plans.Three days before its scheduled premiere, on September 23, 2025, Apple TV announced that The Savant had been delayed. The decision sparked speculation that the platform had postponed the series because of its subject matter, which deals with extremism and acts of violence, following the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.At the time, Chastain publicly expressed her frustration and said she disagreed with the decision to pause the release. The actress cited the January 6 attack on the Capitol, school shootings and Kirk’s assassination to argue that the miniseries remained relevant.Earlier this year, Apple TV had indicated that The Savant would arrive in the summer, but the release was delayed again without any explanation. The new timeframe was confirmed this week and could still allow the series to compete for next year’s Emmy Awards.The cast also includes Pablo Schreiber, Nnamdi Asomugha, Dagmara Dominczyk and Jordana Spiro. The Savant will be released on Apple TV in spring 2027.
