Globo and Netflix have signed a licensing deal for 18 Brazilian productions. The package includes Walter Salles’s Oscar-winning I’m Still Here, and titles will begin arriving on the platform in December. Releases will continue through mid-2027.Not every title will be available in the same markets. Netflix licensed I’m Still Here only for Brazil, while Vitória, directed by Andrucha Waddington and starring Fernanda Montenegro, was acquired for worldwide release. Montenegro plays an 80-year-old woman trying to expose a drug-trafficking network in Copacabana.The deal covers 14 films, three telenovelas and one series. The telenovelas include India: A Love Story, created by Glória Perez and directed by Marcos Schechtman, which won the International Emmy for Best Telenovela in 2009. Netflix acquired the rights to show it in the United States and Latin America.The comedy series Vai Que Cola is also part of the package, with seven seasons acquired for Netflix’s Brazilian catalog. Globo’s original productions will be available on Netflix with dubbing and subtitles in several languages.In a statement, Globo and Netflix said the deal highlights the ability of Brazilian productions to reach audiences around the world. Pedro Garcia, Globo’s director of rights, pointed to growing interest in this content across different markets. Elisabetta Zenatti, vice president of content at Netflix Brazil, said she hoped the partnership would be the first step in a lasting collaboration between the companies.So far, the companies have announced only the month releases will begin and the period through which titles will be added. They have not provided a release schedule for each production.
