Luciano Grostein Amaral Huck, born on September 3, 1971, in São Paulo, is among Brazil’s most enduring television presenters and media entrepreneurs. Raised in the city, he is the son of lawyer Gustavo Huck and urban planner Marta Dora Grostein. He entered journalism as a teenager, writing for Estadinho, the children’s supplement of O Estado de S. Paulo, before finding his calling in television. In 1996, he debuted Programa H on Rede Bandeirantes, a youth-oriented variety show that combined live musical performances, extreme sports coverage, and interactive games, quickly distinguishing him from more conventional hosts.

In 2000, Huck transferred to Rede Globo, where the program was rebranded as Caldeirão do Huck and ran on Saturday afternoons for the next twenty-one years. The show became a cultural institution through segments like Lata Velha, which restored dilapidated classic cars for deserving viewers, and Soletrando, a nationwide spelling bee. Beyond entertainment, Caldeirão integrated charitable campaigns and emotionally driven storytelling, reinforcing Huck’s reputation as a host attuned to mainstream Brazilian sentiment. The program also periodically broadcast live specials from international locations, extending its production scale well beyond a standard studio format.

In September 2021, following Fausto Silva’s departure from Globo, Huck took over the Sunday afternoon block with Domingão com Huck, succeeding the long-running Domingão do Faustão. This move placed him in one of the most coveted and competitive timeslots in Brazilian television and represented a rare generational handover within the network. Under the new title, he retained core elements from Caldeirão while introducing new features aimed at a broad family audience.

Off-screen, Huck married television host Angélica in 2004. A former children’s presenter and long-time Globo personality, Angélica and Huck are one of the country’s most recognized celebrity couples; they have three children. Huck also built a substantial digital presence and pursued business interests, including Joá, an investment firm focused on technology and innovation startups in Brazil. His career longevity across two networks and multiple decades cements his status as a central figure in Brazilian broadcasting.
