Nyxathid, Creature — elemental, designed by Raymond Swanland first released in Feb, 2009 in the set Conflux and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
A deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent's hand size, such as a discard-heavy strategy in a black control deck, would benefit from Nyxathid as it can quickly become a powerful threat for a low cost. However, there are potentially better options like The Rack or Shrieking Affliction that provide consistent damage based on hand size without the risk of Nyxathid being easily weakened. While Nyxathid can be situationally strong, its vulnerability to removal and potential for being a dead draw in certain matchups may limit its overall effectiveness in competitive play.

Nyxathid tracks the hand size of the chosen player even if that player ceases to be an opponent of its controller. (This could happen if that player gains control of Nyxathid, for example.)

Nyxathid’s two abilities are linked: The second one refers only to the player chosen by the first one. If another creature becomes a copy of Nyxathid (due to Mirrorweave, for example), the second ability won’t do anything because a player was never chosen as a result of the first ability. This is true even if a different ability allowed a player to be chosen as that creature entered the battlefield.
