A deck that focuses on a single color with a high devotion to that color, such as mono-white or mono-black, would benefit most from Nyx Lotus. However, there are better mana acceleration options available, such as Mana Crypt or Mana Vault, which provide immediate mana without the drawback of entering tapped. While Nyx Lotus could see play in certain niche decks, it may not be the optimal choice for competitive play due to its slower activation speed.

If an activated ability or triggered ability has an effect that depends on your devotion to a color, you count the number of mana symbols of that color among the mana costs of permanents you control as the ability resolves. The permanent with that ability will be counted if it’s still on the battlefield at that time.
