Lurebound Scarecrow could be beneficial in a control deck that aims to limit the opponent's options by denying them a specific color, forcing them to remove permanents of that color to keep the Scarecrow alive. However, there are likely better options for control decks that provide more consistent and powerful effects, such as Ensnaring Bridge or Blood Moon, which have a broader impact on the game and are more difficult for opponents to play around. Overall, Lurebound Scarecrow may not see much play in competitive decks due to its narrow and easily disrupted ability.

If you control a Lurebound Scarecrow but no color was chosen for it (perhaps because your Cemetery Puca turned into a Lurebound Scarecrow), the trigger condition will have an undefined value in it. It’ll never trigger, so you won’t have to sacrifice the Scarecrow.
