A deck focused on creature-heavy strategies, such as tribal decks or decks with multiple copies of the same creature, would benefit from using Homing Lightning. However, for more efficient removal options, cards like Anger of the Gods or Pyroclasm may be better choices as they offer more flexibility and can deal with a wider range of threats. Homing Lightning could see play in specific metagames where the ability to target multiple creatures with the same name is particularly relevant.

Homing Lightning has only one target. Other creatures with that name are not targeted. For example, a creature with hexproof will be dealt damage if it has the same name as the target creature.
