Dark Revenant could be a valuable addition to a control deck that focuses on manipulating the top of the library, as its ability to return to the top upon death can be strategically advantageous. However, there are potentially better options like Bloodghast or Gravecrawler that offer more consistent value and synergy with graveyard strategies, making Dark Revenant less likely to see play in competitive decks.

Dark Revenant’s ability isn’t optional. However, if Dark Revenant leaves the graveyard before its ability resolves, it won’t be put on top of its owner’s library.
