This card, Dark Offering, would be beneficial in a black control deck that focuses on removal and gaining life to survive against aggressive creature-based strategies. While Dark Offering provides a decent removal option and life gain, there are more efficient cards like Murder or Hero's Downfall that offer better removal at a lower cost. Dark Offering could see play in limited formats or casual decks, but in competitive play, there are generally better options available.
