A control mage deck that focuses on spell synergy would benefit from using Colossus as it can provide powerful board clear potential with the double damage effect. However, Flamestrike may be a better option for a more consistent and reliable board clear at a lower cost. Colossus could see play in certain spell-heavy mage decks looking for additional AoE damage, but its high cost may limit its effectiveness in faster-paced matchups.
