Benthic Biomancer, Creature — merfolk wizard mutant, designed by Daarken first released in Jan, 2019 in the set Ravnica Allegiance and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It's a key card in 7 combos.
This Benthic Biomancer card would be beneficial in a Merfolk tribal deck in Magic: the Gathering, as it synergizes well with other Merfolk creatures and can help with card advantage through its ability to draw and discard cards. While there may be other cards with similar effects, Benthic Biomancer's low casting cost and potential for card advantage make it a strong contender for inclusion in such a deck, especially in more aggressive strategies where card selection is key.

An ability that triggers when counters are put on a permanent will trigger if that permanent somehow enters the battlefield with those counters.

You can always activate an ability that will cause a creature to adapt. As that ability resolves, if the creature has a +1/+1 counter on it for any reason, you simply won’t put any +1/+1 counters on it.
