About Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim

Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, Legendary creature — kor cleric, designed by Cynthia Sheppard first released in Jan, 2016 in the set Oath of the Gatewatch Promos and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim would be a great addition to a control or midrange deck that focuses on sacrificing creatures for value and gaining life to stabilize. While Ayli's ability to exile target nonland permanent is powerful, the condition of having at least 10 life more than your starting life total may limit its effectiveness in some situations. There are better cards like Vindicate or Anguished Unmaking that offer similar removal abilities without the life total restriction, but Ayli could still see play in a deck that can consistently meet the life total requirement and take advantage of her abilities effectively.

Rules

Once you’ve announced either activated ability, it’s too late for anyone to interrupt you by trying to remove the creature you sacrifice.

01/22/16

Your starting life total is the life total you began the game with. For most two-player formats, this is 20. For Two-Headed Giant, it’s the life total your team started with, usually 30. In Commander games, your starting life total is 40.
