Producers confirm that It Follows 2 has wrapped filming, with Maika Monroe returning and Jay Height shown a decade later.

Filming has wrapped on They Follow, the sequel to the horror film It Follows. Producers Scott Aharoni, Alihan Yalcindag and Sinan Eczacibasi confirmed the news in an Instagram post.

“Filming on the sequel has officially wrapped. Congratulations to the incredible cast and crew,” the producers said. The new film has not yet been given a release date.

Maika Monroe will return as Jay Height, the central character from the first film. Naomi Ackie will co-star in the sequel, which also features Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Michael Gandolfini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick and Jan Hoag.

David Robert Mitchell is returning to direct. The filmmaker also directed It Follows, released in 2014, which follows Jay, a college student who is pursued by a demonic entity after a sexual encounter. The entity takes the form of random people, and the curse can only be passed on when the victim has sex with someone else.

They Follow will show how Jay is doing a decade after the events of the original film. In a recent statement, Maika Monroe said the script is “incredible” and that the sequel will take a different approach, with a more realistic story centered on two women facing psychological difficulties.

The first film grossed US$ 21.5 million at the box office on a production budget of US$ 2 million. It also found major success in the home video and VOD markets, helping drive the sequel forward.

With filming complete, They Follow still has no announced release date.
