Disney announces Avengers, Coco and Encanto attractions

New attractions at Disney California Adventure and Orlando parks include Ms. Marvel, Indiana Jones, Coco, Encanto and Villains Land.

Disney unveiled new attractions for its parks during the D23 parks panel held on Saturday. Highlights include two experiences for Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, featuring appearances by actors known for their roles in the Avengers universe.

The first will be Stark Flight Lab, a spinning flight attraction in which guests will take part in training missions led by Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie and Brie Larson. The second, Avengers Infinity Defense, will put visitors in a battle against Thanos. Upon entering, guests will receive instructions from Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, and join characters including Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor and Iron Man, once again portrayed by Jeremy Renner, Mackie, Chris Hemsworth and Downey Jr.

Both attractions are scheduled to open in 2028.

Near Paradise Pier, Disney California Adventure will also add a Coco-inspired water attraction. The ride will take guests through Miguel's world along a museum-inspired river, highlighting Mexican culture and Día de Muertos. The experience will also feature artifacts and music connected to Héctor, Miguel's great-great-grandfather. The park will also receive an Avatar Destination, though details will be announced later.

Construction has begun at Walt Disney World on Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. The attraction will be the first in a park to use Harrison Ford as the model for an Indiana Jones animatronic figure. Ford, who did not attend the panel in person, sent a video expressing his excitement about being involved in the ride's mechanics.

Animal Kingdom will receive Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, an Encanto attraction set inside the Casita. The film's cast will reprise their roles as guests follow Antonio as he receives the power to speak with animals and encounter more than 50 creatures.

Magic Kingdom, meanwhile, will get Villains Land, an area dedicated to Disney villains, featuring a high-intensity roller coaster at the top of Maleficent's thorn-covered mountain and elements described as never before seen.
