Deborah Ann Woll has joined the recurring cast of season 2 of The Testaments, a spin-off of The Handmaid’s Tale. The Daredevil: Born Again actress will play Sylvia, a seamstress who works closely with the Wives and daughters of Gilead’s Commanders.The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Luke Kirby will also appear in the upcoming season in a guest role. He will play Commander Fletcher, a literal-minded, reclusive man who lives on a farm in one of Gilead’s Colonies. The character’s eccentricities have made it difficult for him to find a wife.The story takes place 15 years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale and follows young girls being groomed to serve the Republic of Gilead. Among them are Agnes, played by Chase Infiniti, and Daisy, portrayed by Lucy Halliday. Daisy is a Canadian teenager who discovers that she has deep connections to the Republic, completely changing her life.Ann Dowd will return as Aunt Lydia. Created by Bruce Miller, who also serves as showrunner, the series adapts Margaret Atwood’s book, published in 2019. The novel tells its story from the perspectives of three women and was released 34 years after The Handmaid’s Tale.The series will be released by Hulu, a Disney-owned platform, in partnership with MGM Television. Steve Stark and Warren Littlefield serve as executive producers.The trailer for The Testaments introduces the spin-off’s world and characters, including the young women living under Gilead’s rules.
