10 Iconic TV Show Couples

Some TV show couples stay in our heads long after we've finished watching. Either because of how crazy they are together, or because of how hard it was for them to even kiss for the first time.

Today, we selected a few iconic TV show couples, both modern and classic, that we just can't get out of our heads!

Casey and Izzie - Atypical (2017-2021)

Casey and Izzie's relationship is born from a friendship that gets more intense bit by bit, and eventually turns romantic. Their story unfolds in an American High School, where they meet after both join the track team. Then, they slowly but naturally come to get to know each other really well through moments of tension, silliness, and secrets shared in confidence. The moment they start looking at each other differently almost catches you off-guard, and they explore this feeling subtly, in layers.

What makes Casey and Izzie so different as a couple is precisely how they contrast with each other: Casey is more straightforward, impulsive, and open with her love, but Izzie is a bit more introverted, proud, and emotionally restrained. Despite their rocky beginnings and a few very fragile moments, mostly motivated by social pressure, the deep love between them and how well they communicate with each other make their relationship beautifully strong. We'll always remember them fondly!

Simon and Daphne - Bridgerton (2020 - Present)

Simon and Daphne share a love story straight out of Victorian legend. It's very fitting, as this is Bridgerton we're talking about, the TV show based on the book series by Julia Quinn. The passion between them is surrounded by tension, desire, and drama, and unfolds in luxurious ballrooms, breathtaking landscapes, and classic gowns. The beginning of their relationship is marked by deceit and appearances, but the relationship they built together goes beyond what's on the surface.

Their dynamic is intense, full of misunderstandings and battles of pride. Simon is carrying on his shoulders some childhood trauma and a terrible promise he made to his father, while Daphne is looking for true love, but has to stagger through the taboos and closed doors of her upbringing. Together, they face their vulnerabilities and learn, through ups and downs, to choose themselves first and be true to their feelings. Their love is full of fiery passion, but also matures throughout the story.

Cam and Mitchell - Modern Family (2009-2020)

Cam and Mitchell charmed the public with their chemistry, a dry, but always loving sense of humor, and how they complement each other through their differences. This TV show takes a different approach to their relationship: they're already together when the show starts. Instead of seeing their beginnings, we keep up with their lives for several years, watching them overcome day to day challenges and even adopt a daughter, Lily.

Their relationship is a "choreography of opposites": Cam is emotional, dramatic, and artistic, and Mitchell is more practical and rational. But their differences are what makes them so perfect together! They challenge each other, get frustrated, and have fun together. Their relationship is full of love, patience, and a healthy dose of irony. How these characters are built and mature over the show is exciting and unforgettable.

Ned and Mose - Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide (2004-2007)

If you grew up watching Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, a somewhat obscure Nickelodeon show, then you remember the romantic tension that developed between Ned and Moze throughout the series. They start as best friends, navigating the awkwardness of their middle school years by thinking on their feet and staying loyal to each other. Their relationship always seemed a bit more than that, but it only actually becomes romantic at the very end of the show. All these years of young love and pining after each other explode in the final episode.

What makes this couple so special is precisely how long it takes for them to get together. Imagine loving someone so much you create an alternate reality and even threaten the existence of the multiverse just to bring them back? Very few couples in pop culture have gone through the emotional turmoils Wanda and Vision have gone through.

This story, straight out of the MCU (the Marvel Cinematic Universe), starts out as a romance between a traumatized witch and a synthetic being that actually has an incredibly human heart. Throughout the MCU, their love story is put to the test against villains, prison, and even death.

Their relationship is a reflection on grief, desire, and denial. Wanda can't deal with her loss, and, instead, creates a new reality where everything is "fixed". But Vision, even in this fantasy, makes her face the truth. The love between them is so powerful that it transcends time, death, and logic. Even without a "happy ending", Wanda and Vision have made an impression on our hearts. They're definitely unforgettable.

Nicole and Waverly - Wynonna Earp (2016-2021)

Nicole and Waverly are pure fanservice... But in the best way possible. This couple is from a TV show about demon hunters and family curses, but they managed to steal the spotlight with their irresistible chemistry. The romance between them grows organically - think stolen glances, awkward flirting, and heartwarming scenes.

What makes Nicole and Waverly so memorable is the balance between sweetness and toughness. Waverly comes from a family that carries a heavy burden, and sees Nicole as her safe haven: she is a tough policewoman on the outside, but incredibly sensitive on the inside. Together, they face supernatural forces and also the real conflicts surrounding trust, identity, and abandonment issues. This relationship shows that, even in the darkest of times, love can be a source of light and resistance.

Amy and Sheldon - The Big Bang Theory (2010-2019)

Neurodivergent people love too, you know! Amy and Sheldon are a cute, yet a bit unlikely couple. When Amy is introduced in The Big Bang Theory, she appears to be a feminine version of Sheldon: logical, direct, and cold. With time, however, she reveals a sensibility that disarms the most egocentric, methodical scientist in TV history. Their love is unconventional, but very sincere.

Their dynamic is curious: Sheldon struggles with physical touch and emotional intimacy, while Amy is intense and needs to balance her feelings and desires. Still, they overcome these barriers calmly and patiently. The result is a relationship that breaks stereotypes about neurodivergent people and what it means to love on your own terms.

Mabel and Alice - Only Murders in The Building (2021- Present)

Mabel is surrounded by mystery, always mistrusting, and emotionally reserved. When Alice shows up in her life, all charming, creative, and seductive, something immediately brings them together like magnets. Even though they don't have a lot of screen time as a couple, their relationship is intense, memorable, and full of nuance.

However, this doesn't mean it's all smooth sailing from here. Alice comes into Mabel's life when she is very vulnerable, and straight away makes a mistake. She uses her pain and trauma as inspiration for her art, which deeply shattered the trust between them.

Though their story has an open ending, they're still a brave depiction of contemporary lesbian relationships and intimacy: full of layers, insecurities, and, at the same time, curiosity and the desire for connection. It is a modern picture of how love can flourish amidst still open scars.

Eric and Donna - That 70’s Show (1998-2006)

Eric and Donna are the heart of That 70's Show. He is the nerdy and somewhat clumsy dreamer, and she is the feminist, smart neighbor with a strong personality. They grow right next door to each other in Eric's basement and at school, and engage in shy teasing that turns into a relationship full of ups and downs. Their romance represents that type of love that starts early on, and, though they stumble along the way, it turns into something real.

Their relationship is strong because of how deeply they know each other: they fight, split, mess up, but keep choosing each other. Donna constantly challenges Eric to grow up, and, meanwhile, he tries to learn how to be a better partner, even though he makes mistakes along the way. The show depicts this dynamic with humor and a lot of love. This couple makes us reflect on what it is to grow alongside someone else at this age: it's very embarrassing, tender, and awkward, as all teenage romances should be.

Well, that was a lot of passion, missteps, and unfortunate events! As we built this list full of cute couples, our hearts filled up. From high school romances to passions that challenge the laws of the universe, these couples have made us cry, laugh, and sigh. After seeing so much love on the screen, it's hard not to get all teared up, right?

Personally, my girlfriend and I see us a lot in Donna and Eric. Our relationship is also full of bad jokes, silly discussions, and funny dynamics!
