Miley Cyrus has released “Bass Persuades,” the lead single from her upcoming album, due out on September 18. The track premiered Thursday night (3), delivering a pop production aimed squarely at the dance floor.

The music video was directed by Mert Alas and features references to major pop stars including Madonna, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson. In the video, Miley throws herself into the choreography and performs alongside men.

The lyrics reinforce the invitation to dance and focus on the connection between bodies. In the chorus, Miley sings: “The children don’t want to dance / We can’t live like this forever / Give in to the night, when our bodies come together.”

“Bass Persuades” will be the public’s first introduction to Miley Cyrus’ 10th studio album. It follows “Something Beautiful,” released in 2025 and described in the source text as an album that received a lukewarm response.

The new single marks another change in direction for the singer, who rose to fame as a teenager through her work with Disney and has built a music career spanning several different phases. This time, she is betting on a dance track accompanied by a video that explores choreography, sensuality and recognizable references from pop culture.

Miley Cyrus’ next album is scheduled for release on September 18. “Bass Persuades” already serves as the first preview of the material that will appear on the record.
