HBO has confirmed Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn as Tiago and Lílian Potter, respectively, in the first season of the new Harry Potter series. The announcement also revealed that Harry Gilby will play Carlinhos Weasley, one of Rony’s older brothers.

Talbot’s credits include Broadchurch. Hannah Chinn appeared in The Conjuring: Last Rites. In the story, Tiago and Lílian died before Harry began his journey at Hogwarts, but they still appear in key moments of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

It is in this book that Harry sees his parents in the Mirror of Erised and receives a family photo album from Hagrid. The characters’ presence is therefore part of some of the most memorable moments in the wizard’s first adventure.

Harry Gilby, known for The Last Kingdom and for playing the young writer J.R.R. Tolkien in Tolkien, will portray a character who had little screen time in the previous films. Carlinhos Weasley appeared only in a family photograph taken during a trip to Egypt in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

In the books, Carlinhos works with dragons in Romania. He also helps Rony find a new home for Norberto, the dragon Hagrid raised.

The new cast members join Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout, who were chosen to play Harry, Hermione and Rony. The series will retell the story from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone onward, premiering on December 25, 2026, on HBO Max.
