Amazon MGM Studios has set Lizard Music for a December 25, 2027 theatrical release in the United States. Directed by Benny Safdie, of Uncut Gems, the film blends live-action performances with computer-generated imagery and stars Dwayne Johnson.

The story follows a boy played by Theo Leber who, left to fend for himself, discovers a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music. The discovery opens a hidden door to the extraordinary and sends him searching for answers.

Along the way, he meets Johnson’s character, The Chicken Man, and his companion Claudia, a 111-year-old chicken. The three follow clues about a secret society, setting off on an adventure through unseen worlds and unexpected encounters. Regina Hall plays The Chicken Man’s friend and co-worker.

Safdie wrote the screenplay based on Daniel Pinkwater’s book of the same name. Johnson also produces the film. The cast includes Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams and David Krumholtz.

The premise brings together a mysterious broadcast, a secret society and a friendship forged in unlikely circumstances. For now, the date announced by Amazon MGM Studios applies to the United States; the source text does not say when Lizard Music will reach Brazilian theaters.
