The fourth season of Ted Lasso ends with major changes at AFC Richmond and offers clues about the team’s future. The episode resolves Zelda’s attempt to take control of the club, sets Roy’s departure in motion and puts Alice in a new leadership role. A fifth season has not yet been announced.The episode opens during a memorial for Mae, the owner of the Crown & Anchor, who died unexpectedly while supporting the Lady Greyhounds. The tribute takes on added emotional weight when Henry asks Ted how his father died. Ted initially lies to protect him, but later tells him the truth in a conversation shown offscreen: Ted’s father died by suicide.Roy, meanwhile, accepts an offer to become Chelsea’s manager, a position that fulfills a lifelong dream. Before leaving Richmond, he promises to finish the season. He also tells Ted, Beard, Higgins, Nate and Alice that Keeley is pregnant and admits that he is afraid of being a bad father. While clearing out his office, Roy finds a note from Ted telling him he will be a great father, along with one of the coach’s small green army men.The fight for control of the club comes to an end at the shareholders’ meeting. Zelda confirms that she spent the season secretly buying shares in Richmond. Rebecca and Higgins manage to turn the tables with the help of Rebecca’s assistant, leaving them with a 49% stake each. The remaining 2% belonged to Mae, who left it to Rebecca, ending the threat to the club’s ownership.Alice gets the episode’s biggest development. After spending the entire season working with the Lady Greyhounds, she learns that Ted asked to be demoted to assistant coach and handed her the women’s team’s head coaching job. The decision revisits the conflict introduced at the start of the season and brings Alice’s arc to a close, while Ted Lasso’s future remains uncertain.
