Spider-Man: Brand New Day leads the UK box office

Sony's film remains at No. 1 in the UK and Ireland, while The Odyssey continues to compete for audiences.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day topped the UK and Ireland box office for the third consecutive weekend. The Sony film grossed £6.1 million, equivalent to US$8.3 million, bringing its total to US$106.5 million after 20 days in theaters.

The battle for the top spot continues with The Odyssey. The Universal epic, directed by Christopher Nolan, remained in second place in its fifth weekend, grossing US$5 million. The film's cumulative total reached US$93.4 million.

The week's top new release was Warner Bros.' The End of Oak Street, which opened in third place with US$2.8 million. The cast includes Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.

The musical documentary Katseye: Wild Hearts debuted in fourth place with US$981,457 in its wide theatrical release. Paramount's Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie fell to fifth place in its second weekend, bringing its total to US$4.3 million.

Toy Story 5 ranked sixth, adding US$714,080 in its ninth week. The Disney film has grossed US$74.7 million to date. Just behind it, Minions & Monsters grossed US$546,233, bringing its cumulative total to US$23.2 million.

A24 landed in eighth place with the release of Tony, Matt Johnson's film about Anthony Bourdain, starring Dominic Sessa and Antonio Banderas. The release grossed US$544,524.

The live-action version of Moana took ninth place, grossing US$441,419 in its sixth weekend and reaching US$17.2 million overall. The Indian drama Vishwanath & Sons rounded out the top 10 with US$378,751 in its opening weekend.

Upcoming wide releases include Insidious: Out of the Further, Mutiny and the comedy Spa Weekend.
