Richard Riehle has died in Los Angeles at 78. The actor, who had more than 400 film and television credits, died of natural causes on Thursday, October 15. He is survived by his wife, Jane Latham, and four children.

One of his best-known roles was in Mike Judge’s comedy Office Space. Riehle played an Initech employee whose job was to act as a liaison between clients and staff. His character is asked, “What would you say you do here?”, a line that became a meme associated with the film.

Born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Riehle began his career in theater before spending decades on screen. His first film appearance was as an uncredited extra in Rooster Cogburn, a sequel to True Grit.

Over his career, Riehle appeared in films including Fried Green Tomatoes, Casino, Ghosts of Mississippi, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Bridesmaids. His television work included Star Trek, among other productions.

Riehle built his career largely on supporting roles. Even when his screen time was brief, as it was in some of those films, he was part of casts across a range of genres. His Office Space scene remains one of the most memorable moments in a filmography spanning more than 400 credits.
