Sony Pictures has released the dubbed trailer for Ramayana: The Birth of a Legend, an Indian epic set to hit Brazilian cinemas on November 19. The video follows Rama, prince of Ayodhya and believed to be an incarnation of the god Vishnu.

Based on the ancient epic of Hindu mythology, the story sees Rama set out to rescue his wife, Sita, who has been kidnapped by Ravana, a powerful demon king. He is joined by his brother, Lakshmana, and Hanuman, a loyal warrior. Along the way, they face supernatural forces and challenges that put the fate of the kingdom and the balance between good and evil at stake.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, of Dangal, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil and Rakul Preet Singh. Conceived as a two-part production, it was filmed specifically for release on giant IMAX screens.

With an estimated budget of US$ 500 million, Ramayana is described in the source text as the most expensive film in Indian history. Its domestic release is set for November 19, but the source text does not specify the year.
