Criminal Minds will end with its 20th season. The next batch of episodes, set to premiere on Paramount+ in 2027, will be the last for the series about a team that investigates serial killers. An exact premiere date has not been announced. It will be the fifth season produced for streaming, where the series adopted the title Criminal Minds: Evolution in 2022. Before that, it ran for 15 seasons on CBS. In a statement, showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer said it was hard to put into words what the series means to those who have been part of it. She thanked the crew and fans for their dedication over two decades and said she looks forward to sharing the final season with viewers. The farewell brings to a close a run that began in 2005. Criminal Minds aired more than 300 episodes on CBS before its 15th season ended in 2020. The franchise also spawned two shorter-lived spinoffs: Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, which ran for one season, and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, which ran for two. After its CBS run ended, Paramount+ revived the series under the Evolution subtitle. The move to streaming also brought a different format: episodes became part of storylines spanning an entire season. Each streaming season has had ten episodes, while many of the CBS seasons had 22 or more. The cast of Criminal Minds: Evolution includes Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler and RJ Hatanaka, as well as Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. Hatanaka joined in the first Paramount+ season; the other regular cast members had appeared during at least part of the CBS run. 20th Television and CBS Studios produce the series. With reporting from The Hollywood Reporter.
