Rebecca Ferguson

Rebecca Ferguson is a Swedish actor born in Stockholm on 19 October 1983. She began performing on screen as a teenager in the Swedish soap opera *Nya tider*, appearing from 1999 to 2000 as Anna Gripenhielm. Her early credits also included the Swedish film *Drowning Ghost* and the television miniseries *The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun*.

Her international breakthrough came with the BBC and Starz historical drama *The White Queen* in 2013. Ferguson played Elizabeth Woodville, the widowed Lancastrian woman who becomes the wife of King Edward IV during England’s Wars of the Roses. Her performance earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film. The series adapted Philippa Gregory’s novels *The White Queen*, *The Red Queen*, and *The Kingmaker’s Daughter*.

In 2015, Ferguson joined the *Mission: Impossible* franchise as Ilsa Faust in *Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation*. Ilsa is an undercover British intelligence operative whose loyalties are deliberately uncertain when she first encounters Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise. Ferguson reprised the role in *Mission: Impossible – Fallout* in 2018, *Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One* in 2023, and became one of the franchise’s most prominent recurring characters.

She portrayed the Swedish soprano Jenny Lind in the 2017 musical film *The Greatest Showman*. Although Ferguson appeared onscreen as Lind, the character’s singing voice was provided by vocalist Loren Allred. Her other major film work includes playing astronaut Miranda North in the 2017 science-fiction thriller *Life*, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds; Anna Watson in *The Girl on the Train*; and Rose the Hat, leader of the True Knot, in Mike Flanagan’s 2019 adaptation of Stephen King’s *Doctor Sleep*.

Ferguson played Lady Jessica, mother of Paul Atreides, in Denis Villeneuve’s *Dune* in 2021 and *Dune: Part Two* in 2024. In those adaptations of Frank Herbert’s novel, Lady Jessica is a member of the Bene Gesserit order and concubine of Duke Leto Atreides. Ferguson’s role becomes especially consequential in the second film as Jessica navigates Fremen religious belief and political power on Arrakis.

On television, she stars as Juliette Nichols in Apple TV+’s science-fiction series *Silo*, which premiered in 2023. Based on Hugh Howey’s *Wool* novels, the series follows people living in a vast underground silo after an apparently ruined future makes Earth’s surface uninhabitable. Juliette, initially an engineer, investigates the death of Sheriff Holston and gradually uncovers evidence challenging the silo’s official history.
