*Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle* is a 2025 Japanese animated film directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by ufotable. It adapts part of the final confrontation in Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga and is the first film in a planned trilogy covering the Infinity Castle arc. It follows the anime’s Hashira Training arc, which ended with the Demon Slayer Corps being drawn into the stronghold of their enemy, Muzan Kibutsuji.

The castle is controlled by Nakime, a demon who changes its rooms and corridors by playing her biwa. Its shifting layout separates the Corps just as they need to unite against Muzan and his most powerful followers, the Upper Rank demons. Rather than keeping Tanjiro Kamado at the centre of every encounter, the film moves among battles involving several characters whose histories have been developing across the series.

One confrontation pairs Tanjiro with Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka against Akaza, the Upper Rank Three demon who killed Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku in *Mugen Train*. That earlier death gives Tanjiro a personal reason to face Akaza. The fight also reveals Akaza’s human life as Hakuji, including his relationships with his teacher Keizo and Keizo’s daughter Koyuki. Those memories complicate the portrait of an opponent previously known chiefly for his strength and his pursuit of stronger fighters.

Elsewhere, Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho confronts Doma, Upper Rank Two. Doma killed her older sister Kanae, making their meeting the culmination of a long-held grievance. Shinobu’s reliance on wisteria poison matters because she lacks the physical strength to behead a demon with her sword. Her encounter leads into Kanao Tsuyuri’s part in the fight against Doma.

Zenitsu Agatsuma faces Kaigaku, another former pupil of their Thunder Breathing teacher, Jigoro Kuwajima. Kaigaku’s decision to become a demon turns a shared training history into a direct conflict. Zenitsu, often shown panicking before combat earlier in the series, enters this battle with a clear purpose and uses a technique he created himself.

These fights make the film more than a single advance toward Muzan. Each opponent has a connection to someone in the Corps, and the castle’s constantly rearranging space keeps those confrontations isolated. *Infinity Castle* was released in Japan on July 18, 2025. As the trilogy’s opening instalment, it does not finish the Corps’ struggle with Muzan; it brings several long-running rivalries to their decisive battles while leaving the wider war unresolved.
