The new Baywatch already has a defined path in several international markets. Prime Video has acquired the series' rights for much of Europe, as well as Canada, Latin America, India, and other territories.The deal includes countries such as France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. In addition to the new production, the service has also licensed the complete catalog of the classic version: all nine seasons of Baywatch and seasons 9 and 10, aired under the title Baywatch Hawaii. The deal does not include the two seasons of the spin-off Baywatch Nights.The new series will feature Stephen Amell in the cast, alongside Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader. Matt Nix will serve as showrunner and executive producer, working with McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz as executive producers.McG, known for directing Charlie's Angels, will helm the premiere episode. The proposal is to celebrate the original production, re-energized for a new generation.Originally aired by NBC, the first version of Baywatch was canceled after its initial season, but found new life in syndication and became a global hit. At its peak, the series was cited as the most watched program in the world, airing in more than 200 countries and reaching over one billion viewers per week.The franchise also helped launch names such as Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa, and Yasmine Bleeth. David Hasselhoff was one of the stars of the original production.Produced by Fremantle and Fox Entertainment, the reboot will have a first season of 12 episodes. It premieres on Fox in January 2027, while its arrival on Prime Video is scheduled for later that same year.
