Park Hee-soon

Park Hee-soon is a South Korean actor whose screen career has moved between crime thrillers, historical dramas, action films, and streaming series. Born on February 13, 1970, he first built experience in theatre before becoming widely recognized in films. His work is particularly associated with controlled, intimidating characters, but his credits include prosecutors, soldiers, fathers, and police officers.

Park appeared in the 2007 thriller Seven Days, directed by Won Shin-yun. The film follows a lawyer racing to save her kidnapped daughter by securing an acquittal for a murder suspect; Park plays detective Kim Man-ho, who becomes involved in the case. He later featured in The Scam (2009), a con-artist drama about manipulation of a listed company’s shares, and in The Client (2011), a courtroom thriller in which a defense lawyer represents a man accused of killing his wife. In the latter, Park plays a prosecutor opposing the defense.

His action-film roles include Colonel Min Se-wan in The Suspect (2013), which stars Gong Yoo as a North Korean defector pursued after a killing. Park was also part of the ensemble of Jang Joon-hwan’s 1987: When the Day Comes (2017), a drama based on events surrounding the death of student activist Park Jong-chul during South Korea’s June Democratic Struggle. In Kim Jee-woon’s Illang: The Wolf Brigade (2018), he played a senior Public Security officer in the live-action adaptation of Mamoru Oshii’s Japanese animated film.

International audiences encountered Park in Netflix’s My Name (2021). In the series, Han So-hee plays Yoon Ji-woo, who joins a drug organization after her father’s murder and later infiltrates the police. Park portrays Choi Mu-jin, the organization’s leader and a complicated protector of Ji-woo. He returned to Netflix in A Model Family (2022) as Gwang-cheol, a gang leader whose missing drug money entangles an indebted university instructor’s family. Park then appeared in Disney+’s Moving (2023), adapted from Kang Full’s webtoon. He plays Kim Deok-yoon, a North Korean operative with extraordinary abilities, in the superhero drama. In Trolley (2022–2023), he plays Nam Joong-do, a National Assembly member whose family is shaken when his wife’s concealed past becomes public.

Park married actor Park Ye-jin in 2015. Their relationship had been publicly confirmed in 2012 after they met through the entertainment industry. Across these projects, his roles place him within contemporary Korean screen stories about institutional power, family pressure, political violence, and criminal networks. He has also continued working in film and television.
