Netflix has released the first trailer for Unabomber, a thriller starring Jacob Tremblay as Ted Kaczynski. The film follows the character’s transformation from a 16-year-old Harvard student into the man known as the Unabomber.

The story also explores the controversial psychological experiments conducted by Professor Henry Murray, played by Russell Crowe. Decades later, Kaczynski’s troubled past resurfaces when FBI agent Joanne Miller, played by Shailene Woodley, leads the search for him. The investigation reveals the consequences of ambition and isolation.

Januz Metz directs the film from a screenplay by Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves. The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis, Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg and Marc Menchaca.

Greaves, Donald J. Lee and Chalsen serve as executive producers, in association with MRC. Sophie Cassidy produces the film through 2.0 Entertainment.

The trailer suggests a suspenseful atmosphere reminiscent of David Fincher’s style. Internally, the studio considers Unabomber one of Netflix’s major releases for the fall in the Northern Hemisphere.

The film premieres on the platform on 25 September.
