Jenna Ortega plans to take a break from television after completing the third season of Wednesday. The actress said she wants to make room in her schedule to explore new roles and opportunities outside the Netflix series.

Production on the third season wrapped last month. Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ortega said she would probably stay away from TV for a while after the new episodes are finished.

“I’ve spent many years doing this. As a child, I went from one show to another, from one project to another, and I want to leave time for new things,” the actress explained.

Ortega also said she still feels somewhat bewildered by the popularity of Wednesday. She said being recognized for the role had come to feel like “a sick mind game.” The actress added that she has not had many conversations about franchises, but believes the right project will find its way to her.

Netflix announced that production on the third season has wrapped and released a first image of Ortega as Wednesday Addams. The season is expected to premiere in 2027, though no specific date has been announced.

Returning cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams and Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair. Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton and Fred Armisen are also confirmed to return.

The new season will also feature Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia and Winona Ryder as Tabitha, alongside Chris Sarandon, Noah Tayler, Oscar Morgan, Kennedy Moyer, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance. Joanna Lumley has been promoted to a series regular.
