Netflix has announced that filming on Wednesday 3 has wrapped and shared the first image of Jenna Ortega in the new season. Ortega plays Wednesday Addams in the series alongside a cast that brings together familiar characters and new additions to the story.The series was directed by Tim Burton and is based on characters created by Charles Addams. The second season was released in two parts, in August and September last year. Its first four episodes accumulated 50 million views in their first five days, matching the figure recorded when the first season premiered.The season's success went beyond its opening episodes. Wednesday 2 ended up as the tenth most-watched title in Netflix history. The first season, meanwhile, is the platform's most-watched English-language series and ranks second globally, behind Squid Game 1.The new season will introduce Eva Green as Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams's sister, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Wednesday's aunt. Winona Ryder will reunite with Ortega, her co-star in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and with Burton. Lena Headey, James Lance, Oscar Morgan, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor and Kennedy Moyer are also among the new additions to the cast.Filming took place in Paris and Dublin. At the end of the second season, Wednesday set off with her uncle Fester to rescue Enid, who was trapped in the form of an alpha wolf. The third season picks up that story directly, while Alfred Gough and Miles Millar remain executive producers and showrunners. MGM Television is the studio behind the series.
