Ambuscade, Instant, designed by Kev Walker first released in May, 2020 in the set Hour of Devastation and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
This card, Ambuscade, would benefit a green aggro deck that focuses on buffing up creatures and dealing direct damage to opponent's creatures. While Ambuscade is a solid removal option for one specific target, a more versatile card like Prey Upon, which also costs 1 G but requires a creature fight rather than dealing damage directly, may be more effective in a deck that prioritizes creature interaction. Ultimately, Ambuscade could see play in specific situations where targeted removal is needed, but it may not be a staple in most decks due to its limited scope of utility.

If the creature you control leaves the battlefield before Ambuscade resolves, Ambuscade has no effect and no damage is dealt. If the creature an opponent controls leaves the battlefield instead, the creature you control gets +1/+0 even though it won’t deal any damage.
