Introduction

In the world of Jujutsu, combat possibilities are endless, each coming with unique powers and limitations. Gege Akutami, the creator, works hard to build a fascinating universe, even if it involves using techniques in highly eccentric ways. This makes it incredibly fun to speculate about who the strongest characters in the entire series truly are!

That is why we created our list of the top 5 strongest and top 5 weakest Jujutsu Kaisen characters. Please be advised that there are spoilers throughout this list, which also takes into account the conclusion of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

Comparison Parameters

For this ranking, we will only consider combat-oriented characters. The series features several non-combatants who use their abilities strictly for support. For example, Arata Nitta uses his Painkiller ability to channel cursed energy to relieve muscle pain and facilitate recovery. Similarly, Momo Nishimiya often uses her flight ability for reconnaissance and scouting rather than direct combat.

The parameters analyzed are based on each character's overall skill set. We will evaluate physical strength, combat techniques, cursed energy reserves, and the efficiency of their abilities. Some cases will be placed in a special category because it is difficult to measure their power due to the sheer complexity of their techniques.

Without further ado… let’s get to the list!

The 5 Strongest

5 - The weakest among the strongest: Yuki Tsukumo

Beyond asking everyone about their "type," Yuki is one of the few Special Grade sorcerers in the series. Unfortunately, she had very little screen time to showcase her full potential, but she demonstrated more than enough to reveal how dangerous she is to any opponent.

Her primary ability involves controlling the mass of a virtual or physical body while eliminating the effects of weight. This represents a massive threat because, as anyone who stayed awake in physics class knows, force depends on mass and acceleration ($F = m \cdot a$). This allows Yuki to deliver devastating blows with force tending toward infinity, as she can increase the mass of her body or any object she throws at will.

Click to read the spoiler: In her major confrontation, Yuki went to the extreme of creating such a high concentration of mass that it nearly formed a black hole, destroying everything in the vicinity. However, she did not secure the victory because Kenjaku was prepared with a technique that countered her ability. This left fans with a "wanting more" feeling regarding such an under-explored character.

4 - Kenjaku

As one of the primary antagonists of the series, this Special Grade sorcerer has the ability to take over the bodies of others and utilize their techniques, though some limitations apply. Even so, Kenjaku is extremely powerful and meticulously planned every move to achieve his goals.

While inhabiting the body of the Special Grade sorcerer Suguru Geto, Kenjaku takes advantage of highly developed physical skills, a vast capacity for cursed energy including Cursed Spirit Manipulation, and the Maximum: Uzumaki attack. He also retains abilities from previous hosts, such as (click to read the spoiler:) Kaori Itadori, the mother of Yuji.

3 - Yuta Okkotsu

Another Special Grade sorcerer, Yuta first appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as a unique individual protected by an extremely powerful curse named Rika. Initially, Yuta did not seem to have much potential, but through intense training, he became a terrifying opponent. His cursed energy reserves impressed both Itadori and Choso, who compared his sheer power to that of Satoru Gojo.

Yuta combines incredible physical strength with elite combat skills. In addition to mastering Reverse Cursed Technique and fighting alongside Rika, he holds a trump card in his Domain Expansion, which allows him to copy and use cursed techniques from opponents.

Even when facing multiple adversaries at a numerical disadvantage, Yuta won almost every confrontation he was involved in, earning him the bronze medal on this list.

2 - The King of Curses: Ryomen Sukuna

Many Jujutsu Kaisen fans debate the most epic confrontation in the story, where the strongest curse, Sukuna, faces the most powerful sorcerer, Satoru Gojo. In the manga, the combat was extremely balanced, making it difficult to definitively declare a winner. However, since Sukuna utilized the Ten Shadows Technique during the fight and still struggled to keep up with Gojo’s pace, one could infer that Sukuna might not have stood a chance without those specific stolen techniques.

Sukuna possesses an extremely offensive skill set, displaying overwhelming strength and incomparable brutality. His surreal amount of cursed energy is notable even after exhaustive battles. During the fight against Gojo, Sukuna expanded his domain and used Reverse Cursed Technique multiple times, yet he still finished the encounter with energy reserves equivalent to Yuta’s.

With absurd endurance and a suffocating offense, Sukuna masters devastating slashes. One of his attacks cuts through anything regardless of cursed energy, while another adapts to the opponent’s energy type. Furthermore, he won a direct clash against Jogo, the volcanic curse who nearly made this list. Sukuna is also capable of using his Domain Expansion, Malevolent Shrine, to ensure his attacks land with total precision.

For all these reasons, Sukuna takes the silver medal on this list!

1 - Satoru Gojo

Satoru Gojo is the sorcerer widely considered the "imbalance" of the Jujutsu world. He is the strongest of all, having inherited the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique. On top of that, he holds a near-record number of Black Flashes and other extraordinary feats.

His abilities involve something akin to atomic control, which usually requires massive energy to manage. However, the unique properties of the Six Eyes make this level of precision possible. One of the series' biggest draws is trying to understand how Gojo’s skill set actually works. He can attract (Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue) or repel (Cursed Technique Reversal: Red) points in space at will. He can even combine these two techniques to create Hollow Purple. Gojo is also a master of Reverse Cursed Technique, can perform the Black Flash, utilizes a Domain Expansion capable of immobilizing everyone around him, and possesses a virtually immeasurable amount of cursed energy.

Gojo is essentially a "cheat code" within the universe. Few people believe such potential could even be real. He is feared and recognized by everyone, making it impossible not to award him the gold medal as the strongest!

The 5 Weakest

5 - The strongest among the weak: Jiro Awasaka

While Jiro appears to be a character with solid physical development and combat training, he is ultimately limited by his own technique called Inverse. This ability works by flipping the damage he receives. Strong blows feel weak to him, while weak blows have the opposite effect and cause great pain.

However, a focused opponent can quickly figure out the trick and defeat him with ease. This is exactly what happened during his appearance in the story.

4 - Kasumi Miwa

Kasumi Miwa is a secondary character who did not get much of the spotlight. In almost every confrontation, she showed extreme difficulty staying relevant in combat. Because she lacks significant control over cursed energy, she dedicated herself to sword techniques via the New Shadow Style. Still, she failed to stand out among her peers.

In her first appearance, she missed an attack against Itadori that she considered infallible, yet he dodged it with ease. Throughout the story, Miwa showed minimal growth and remained far below the other characters in terms of power.

3 - Haruta Shigemo

Haruta made several appearances throughout the series, but he never demonstrated any relevant fighting techniques or noteworthy spells. He mostly appears as a sadistic, ordinary human.

His only ability is called Miracles, which essentially accumulates small daily miracles to use as luck. This allows him to escape dangerous situations that would kill anyone else. He survived multiple encounters through pure luck, and his greatest "achievement" was being the recipient of Nanami's iconic and brutal beatdown.

2 - Junpei Yoshino

Junpei was part of one of the first major emotional arcs in the anime. He had a compelling story that easily generated empathy, yet he left much to be desired in a fight. Even after awakening a summoning cursed technique, Junpei lacked the physical training and the control over his cursed energy needed to survive. This made him extremely vulnerable and dependent on others. He ranks as the second weakest on this list and takes home the silver medal.

1 - Mai Zenin

Mai Zenin is a victim of a specific type of Heavenly Restriction where she shares her strength with her twin sister, Maki. In the world of Jujutsu, twins are considered an ill omen because they split cursed energy and abilities between them. Mai inherited cursed energy and the ability to see curses, but she possesses no physical aptitude. Because of this, she is forced to use a revolver in combat.

Her main ability is Construction, which allows her to create matter from nothing. However, she has a severe limitation and can only make one bullet per day. Despite her creativity, Mai is easily defeated in direct combat. This puts her in first place as the weakest character.

Special Cases

Some sorcerers have the potential to join the list of the strongest due to the unique ways their techniques function. However, these cases are too specific to rank with total precision.

For example, the lawyer Hiromi Higuruma was considered a prodigy because he awakened his Domain Expansion in less than a month. His technique involves summoning a courtroom presided over by a judge shikigami.

Inside the domain, the opponent's physical strength or cursed techniques are irrelevant. The defendant must follow the rules of Japanese criminal law. If found guilty of a criminal act, they are judged. If they prove their innocence, the domain ends. However, if they are convicted, the defendant loses their energy or cursed items. More serious crimes lead to the death penalty, which grants Higuruma the Executioner's Sword. This weapon is a guaranteed one-hit kill. While extremely efficient, this technique depends on many external factors, making it hard to determine his exact rank.

Another special case is Hajime Kashimo, who feels like a force of nature personified. He combines impressive martial arts skills with a special technique that transforms him into the Mythical Amber Beast. This essentially turns him into a walking lightning storm. His standout moment was the epic fight against Sukuna, where Kashimo used all his power in a near-fatal attack. However, due to the high cost of his technique, the results were not what he hoped for.
