Moving

Moving is a 2023 South Korean television series written by Kang Full, adapting his webtoon of the same title. Disney+ released its first seven episodes on August 9, 2023, and the twenty episode run finished on September 20. Directed by Park In je, the drama combines a school story with espionage, family history, and action. Its central premise concerns children who have inherited unusual powers from parents once connected to the National Intelligence Service. The narrative does not simply introduce powers as spectacle: it gradually reveals what the parents endured, the identities they concealed, and why their children become targets.

Kim Bong seok, played by Lee Jung ha, is a Jeongwon High School student who can fly. He wears ankle weights to avoid rising uncontrollably and hides the ability with help from his mother, Lee Mi hyun. Han Hyo joo plays Mi hyun, a former agent with exceptionally acute senses. Bong seok’s father, Kim Doo sik, portrayed by Zo In sung, also flies and is absent for much of his son’s life. Bong seok becomes close to Jang Hee soo, played by Go Youn jung. Hee soo heals extraordinarily quickly, an ability directly linked to her father, Jang Ju won.

Ryu Seung ryong portrays Ju won, a former NIS operative whose formidable physical strength and healing capability are shown in flashbacks. Kim Sung kyun plays Lee Jae man, Gang hoon’s father, whose strength is similarly exceptional. Kim Do hoon plays Lee Gang hoon, a classmate who has inherited that strength. The adult characters’ past includes a clandestine NIS unit that deployed people with abilities. Their former superior, Min Yong jun, and hostile operatives from North Korea contribute to the threat surrounding the families. Ryu Seung bum plays Frank, an American trained killer sent to identify and eliminate former agents.

Moving became a major title for Disney’s Korean original programming and was released internationally with subtitles and dubbing on the Disney+ service. Its twenty episodes were issued in weekly batches, allowing the plot’s initially separate school and adult storylines to converge late in the season. The production was notable for bringing Kang Full’s webtoon to television with Kang himself as writer, while Park In je directed the series. At the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2024, Moving received the Grand Prize. Its ensemble includes Ryu Seung ryong, Han Hyo joo, Zo In sung, Lee Jung ha, and Go Youn jung.
