Swarmborn Giant, Creature — giant, designed by Jaime Jones first released in May, 2020 in the set Journey into Nyx.
A deck that focuses on ramping up mana quickly and deploying big creatures could benefit from using Swarmborn Giant, as it offers a potential early-game threat that can become a formidable blocker with reach once monstrous. However, there are likely better options available for similar mana costs that provide more immediate impact or have stronger abilities, such as Questing Beast or Carnage Tyrant, which may be more popular choices for decks looking to include a large creature with reach. Swarmborn Giant could see play in certain niche strategies that value its unique abilities, but it may not be a top-tier choice in competitive decks.

An ability that triggers when a creature becomes monstrous won’t trigger if that creature isn’t on the battlefield when its monstrosity ability resolves.

Once a creature becomes monstrous, it can’t become monstrous again. If the creature is already monstrous when the monstrosity ability resolves, nothing happens.
