About Purity

Purity, Creature — elemental incarnation, designed by Warren Mahy first released in Oct, 2007 in the set Lorwyn. It's a key card in 2 combos.

Purity would be a valuable addition to a control or lifegain deck in Magic: the Gathering, providing protection from noncombat damage and allowing the player to gain life instead. While it can be a strong defensive option, there are potentially better cards available depending on the specific strategy of the deck, such as Sphinx's Revelation or Baneslayer Angel. Whether Purity sees play would depend on the meta and the overall synergy with the rest of the deck's cards.

Rules

10/01/07

If the Incarnation had lost this ability while on the battlefield (due to Lignify, for example) and then was destroyed, the ability would still trigger and it would get shuffled into its owner’s library. However, if the Incarnation lost this ability when it was put into the graveyard (due to Yixlid Jailer, for example), the ability wouldn’t trigger and the Incarnation would remain in the graveyard.

10/01/07

The last ability triggers when the Incarnation is put into its owner’s graveyard from any zone, not just from on the battlefield.
