Out of Bounds, Instant, designed by Dmitry Burmak first released in Jun, 2018 in the set Battlebond.
This card, Out of Bounds, would be beneficial in a control deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's game plan by countering their key spells. The Assist ability adds flexibility, allowing another player to contribute to its cost, making it easier to include in a multiplayer setting. While Out of Bounds is a solid choice, more versatile and efficient counterspells like Counterspell or Mana Drain may be preferred in competitive decks due to their lower mana cost and broader applicability. However, Out of Bounds could still see play in casual or multiplayer formats where its unique Assist mechanic can shine.

If an effect allows a player to cast a spell spending mana “as though it were mana of any color” or “of any type,” that player must still pay for the colored mana in that spell’s total cost. That cost doesn’t become generic.

You may reveal a card with assist and discuss how to pay for it before you begin to cast the spell. Targets are chosen for that spell before you choose another player to help you pay for it and before that player has committed any mana to doing so.
