About Nightbird's Clutches

Nightbird's Clutches, Sorcery, designed by Jason A. Engle first released in May, 2020 in the set Innistrad and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.

Nightbird's Clutches can be a useful addition to an aggressive red deck looking to push through damage by preventing blockers. However, for a more competitive edge, cards like Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning may provide more immediate impact or versatility in a wider range of situations. Nightbird's Clutches could see play in specific strategies focused on evasion and tempo, but may not be a staple in all red decks.

Rules

03/19/21

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you’re paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.

03/19/21

You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.

03/19/21

“Flashback [cost]” means “You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost” and “If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack.”
