A deck that focuses on discarding or manipulating cards in hand, such as a Madness or Reanimator deck, would benefit from Elkin Lair as it can potentially enable players to play cards they wouldn't have been able to otherwise. However, there are better options like Waste Not or Liliana's Caress that provide more consistent value and disruption, making Elkin Lair less likely to see play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.
